Department of Basic Engineering and Applied Sciences (BEAS)

 ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Dept. of BEAS began in 1986 and is actively engaged in imparting knowledge in diverse disciplines ranging from Mathematics to Agronomy and Electronics to Physical Education, to the prospective young engineers enrolled from pan India.  Our faculty strength includes qualified and committed teachers along with an excellent infrastructure and labs with facilities on par with current standards. Knowledge of skills of faculty members are regularly updated through attending faculty development programmes, workshops and conferences.  With an array of 26 UG and 6 PG courses, we take active role in molding innovative Agriculture Engineers and Food Technologists equipped to serve the global society.

To facilitate comprehensive knowledge transfer with latest theoretical and practical concepts particularly in the area of  basic engineering  and applied sciences.

The department maintains a fully air-conditioned Computer Centre of 150 sq.m area, with 20 desktop computers of medium to high end configuration and printing and scanning facilities. It also involves 25 NComputing nodes running on Windows 2012 Server. All systems are networked and connected to high speed NKN Internet.

The major equipment in Physics Lab involves Newton’ s rings apparatus, Spectrometer, Electronic weighing machine, Travelling Microscope and Optical Bench for Biprism etc.

With a vision to enhance the communication skills of the students, a well-equipped Language Laboratory has been established in the college under the management of the department. The Language Lab software running on a network of computers provides a good interface for teaching, learning and improving the command of English of the students.

The college has given due importance to the physical fitness and entertainment of the students, by establishing various sports facilities in the campus which is maintained by the department. Students are given Physical Education as a part of curriculum during the second semester. In addition to that,  daily practices are given in the morning and evening to improve their physical  health and fitness. The amenity includes a multi-purpose playground of 110m x 70m dimension, with Football goal posts, Basketball and Volleyball courts, and Indoor Court and Cricket nets and well-equipped multi-gymnasium.
